How it works

How we calculate this

Every figure is an estimate from public benchmarks and the numbers you enter. Treat it as a starting point; we'll check it against your real data on a call.

  1. 01Conversion rate is your monthly enquiries or orders divided by monthly visitors.
  2. 02Benchmarks are rough cross-industry figures: lead-generation sites typically convert about 2.5% of visitors and the top quarter 5% or more; online shops typically 2% and the top quarter 4% or more.
  3. 03Revenue for lead sites is enquiries × close rate × customer value. For shops it is orders × average order value.
  4. 04The speed estimate uses Portent's 2022 finding that conversion rates fall by about 4.42% for each extra second of load time between 0 and 5 seconds, measured against a 2-second target.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good website conversion rate in the UK?

Around 2 to 3% is typical for most business websites. Lead-generation sites in the top quarter convert 5% or more of visitors into enquiries. Online shops in the top quarter convert around 4% or more.

How do I find my monthly visitors and enquiries?

Visitors (users or sessions) are in Google Analytics under Reports. Enquiries are your form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks from the website. If you don't track these yet, use your best estimate and we can help set up tracking.

Does page speed really affect conversions?

Yes. Slow pages lose people before they have read your offer, especially on mobile. Large studies consistently show conversion rates dropping with each extra second of load time.

How quickly can a website improve its conversion rate?

Quick fixes on key pages, like clearer headlines, a single call to action and faster images, often show a change within two weeks. A full rebuild around the enquiry journey typically launches in four to eight weeks.
